  • Konstantinos Dogeas was a Postdoc from 2022 to 2023.
  • Abdul Ghani completed his PhD in 2023. He now works for Wolfram Research Europe.
  • Siani Smith completed her PhD in 2022. She now holds a personal fellowship at the Heilbronn Institute.
  • Jakub Opršal was a Postdoc from 2018 to 2021. He is now a a Postdoc at Oxford University.
  • Giacomo Paesani completed his PhD in 2021.
  • Konrad Dabrowski was a Postdoc and Teaching Assistant from 2013 to 2021. He is now a lecturer at Newcastle University.
  • Christoforos Raptopoulos was a Postdoc in 2020. He is now a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Computer Engineering & Informatics Department, University of Patras, Greece.
  • Nick Brettel was a Postdoc between 2019 and 2020. He is now a Postdoctoral Fellow at Victoria University of Wellington.
  • Dan Thomas completed his PhD in 2020.
  • Viktor Zamaraev was a Postdoc between 2016 and 2019. He now holds a lectureship at the University of Liverpool.
  • David Cushing completed his Postdoc in Mathematical Sciences in 2017 and is now working for Pulsic in Newcastle.
  • Aidan Chalk completed his PhD in 2017 (having previously also done an MSc by Research with us). He left to take up a position as an Application Performance Engineer at the Science and Technology Facilities Council.
  • David Kirk completed his MSc by Research here in 2017.
  • Anthony Stewart completed his PhD here in 2017. He is now a Graduate Software Engineer working for The Hut Group.
  • André Nichterlein spent 2016 with us working as a Postdoc with George Mertzios. He is now in Berlin.
  • Shiping Liu was a Postdoc (based in the Maths Department) between 2013 and 2016. He now works at the University of Science and Technology of China.
  • Ioannis Lignos was awarded a PhD in 2016 and now works at the University of East London.
  • Sepehr Meshkinfamfard graduated with a PhD in 2016. He currently works as a Research and Development Engineer (Knowledge Transfer Partnership Associate) with Leicester University and Visual Management Systems Ltd in Glasgow.
  • Carl Feghali completed his PhD here in 2016 and left for a postdoc position at Fondation Sciences Mathématiques in Paris.
  • Nihan Tokac was a postgraduate student and was awarded a PhD in 2016. She now works in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Yildiz Technical University in Turkey.
  • Alejandro Erickson was with us between 2013 and 2016, working as a postdoc with Iain Stewart.
  • Alonso Castillo-Ramirez was a member of the group in 2015, working as a postdoc with Max Gadouleau. He now works at University of Guadalajara in Mexico.
  • Foad Lotfifar completed his PhD in 2016. He nows works as a software developer with SAP in Germany.
  • Laurence Dawson was awarded his PhD in 2015. He now runs a small software development company developing mobile applications for Android and is a guest lecturer at King’s College London.
  • Adam Symonds was a PhD student of Stefan Dantchev who graduated in 2015. He left to set up a company to design board games.
  • Archontia Giannapoulou was a postdoc in Durham in 2014 and left to take up a similar position at the Institute of Informatics at Warsaw University.
  • Jian Song was a postgraduate student in Durham and was awarded his PhD in 2013. He now works in Beijing.
  • Anna Huber worked as a postdoc with us from 2010 to 2013. She currently works as a lecturer at the University of Derby.
  • Nicholas Georgiou worked as a postdoc with us in 2012-13. When he left he crossed the road to work in the Department of Mathematics.
  • James Gate was a postgraduate student supervised by Iain Stewart, and was awarded his PhD in 2012. He left to work as a Software Developer for Kelvin Connect in Glasgow.
  • Daniel Allsop, Aidan Chalk and Alan Heppenstall studied for MSc by Research degrees with ACiD in 2011/12. Daniel now works as a Software Developer for ScottLogic, Aidan is still with us as a PhD student studying GPU computing, and Alan is developing his own business supported by Imagine K12.
  • Artem Pyatkin was a postdoctoral researcher in Durham until June 2012. He left to take up a position at Novosibirsk State University in Russia.
  • Viresh Patel was a postdoctoral researcher in Durham until Summer 2012. He now works at the University of Amsterdam.
  • Petr Golovach was a postdoctoral researcher in Durham until Summer 2012. He is now a researcher at the University of Bergen in Norway.
  • Mahmoud Maqableh was a postgraduate student supervised by Stefan Dantchev. He was awarded his PhD in 2012 and took up a position as Assistant Professor at the University of Jordan.
  • Jeremy Kemp was an MSc by Research student in 2010/11. He now works as a GPU programmer.
  • Yonghong Xiang was both a postgraduate student and then postdoctoral researcher in Durham. He left in early 2012 for Beijing, China to work for China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation where he leads a research and development group focused on image processing and parallel computing for Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs).
  • Ross Kang was a postdoctoral researcher in Durham until January 2012. He is now an Assistant Professor at Radboud University, Netherlands.
  • Lars Nagel was a postgraduate student supervised by Tom Friedetzky. He was awarded his PhD in 2011. He is now a Postdoc at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz.
  • Hajo Broersma was a Professor in Durham until December 2010. He is now working at the University of Twente.
  • Berndt Muller was a postdoctoral researcher and teaching fellow in Durham until September 2010. He is now a Senior Lecturer at the University of Glamorgan.
  • Pim van ‘t Hof was a postgraduate student supervised by Daniel Paulusma. He was awarded his PhD in 2010. He left to work as a Postdoc at the Algorithms Research Group at the University of Bergen, Norway, and is currently at Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences.
  • Luke Mathieson was a postgraduate student supervised by Stefan Szeider. He was awarded his PhD in 2009. He is now a Research Associate at the University of Newcastle, Australia.
  • Mark Rhodes was a postgraduate student and teaching fellow in Durham. He was awarded his PhD in 2009. He now works as a Software Developer for ScottLogic.
  • Stefan Szeider was a Reader in Durham until October 2009. He now works at the Vienna University of Technology.
  • Catarina Carvalho was a research associate in Durham until September 2008. She is now a lecturer at the University of Hertfordshire.
  • Marko Samer was a research associate in Durham until September 2008. He left to work in the Formal Methods in Systems Engineering Group at TU Darmstadt, Germany.
  • Florent Madelaine was a research associate in Durham until 2007. He is now a lecturer at the University of Auvergne.
